Echoes of a Distant Battle...

A few years ago I started a 'Cold War Gone Hot' project set in the fictional Central Asian state of Whirawistan which lies somewhere between Afghanistan and Pakistan which I blogged about at Where Are We Stan? Sadly this project has gone a bit cold (hopefully only temporarily).

Whilst working on this I thought it would be fun to use the same Imagi-nation for some colonial battles, pitching the local native Whiaris against the might of the British Raj (and maybe drag in the Russian Empire for some Great Game What If? gaming).

My initial idea was to do this in 20mm using Jacklex figures as that would allow me to use some of the same terrain for both 1983 and 1880 but currently enjoying playing 28mm Sudan games at Bristol Independent Gaming using Osprey's The Men Who Would Be Kings I have taken to raising a British force that, if one looks closely, is actually a North West Frontier one, rather than a Sudan one! :-)

So whilst I will be covering that on my main blog, I'll go into more detail here about my British Field Force and the native Whirais as I raise armies for both sides, and hopefully soon get some games in...
